Sound and Music from Interdisciplinary and Intersectorial Perspectives
Project acronym: SAMI
Topics: acoustics, musicology, neuroscience, sound design
Disciplinary fields: human science, acoustics, musicology
Summary: New professions related to sound and music have emerged in recent years, necessitating the crossing of scientific and artistic disciplines and the emergence of a common culture that prepares for a versatility of professionals that are needed in both the industrial and cultural world of work. The aim of project SAMI “Sound and Music from Interdisciplinary and Intersectorial Perspectives” is to propose a clear and coherent course that is intrinsically interdisciplinary and that gathers professionals within sound and music that previously were both geographically and administratively split between Aix, Marseille and Aubagne. This cross-UFR ALLSH/Science master program entitled “Acoustics and Musicology” is affiliated to the laboratory PRISM (Perception, Representations, Image, Sound, Music), whose members originate from various horizons, from musicology to neuroscience or acoustics. This new program includes also emergent fields such as sound design and immersive audio acoustics.
