Imagerie photoacoustique de l’activité neuronale en profondeur chez la souris
Project Acronym: PHOTA
Topics: Brain, Cells, Photoacoustic Imaging
Disciplinary Fields: Biology, Optical Imagery, Neurobiology, Acoustics, Physics
Summary: The objective of the PHOTA project is to develop a photoacoustic imaging technique to image neuronal activity at great depths (>1mm) in the brain, particularly in mice. Thanks to an optical measurement of the acoustic field, this technique guarantees a quasi-cellular spatial resolution and a temporal resolution of the order of a millisecond. It provides access to a wide range of fields of view, from a few hundred micrometers to several millimeters. The ability to image the electrical activity of individual neurons at great depths in the brain is likely to have a significant impact in neuroscience.
